Waterwise Community Festival | MIZU, Salenta + Qur’an, Paige Emery, Amigone, DJ Noah the Naturalist

  • California Botanic Garden 1500 North College Avenue Claremont, CA, 91711 United States (map)

Cruise to Claremont for a free day at the absolutely incredible California Botanic Garden, the largest garden devoted to California native plants. We have a most potent day of music for you alongside our friend Lachlan Turczan’s Mirror Speak cymatic fountain, and as if that wasn’t enough, there will be tours, mini-workshops, craft stations, panel discussions, plants for sale, exhibitor booths, and more! Come for the Joshua Trees, stay to learn about California’s native plants, waterwise landscaping, and how each of us can contribute to watershed health while helping our region build for a sustainable future ;)

From gossamer harmonic textures to lush orchestral washes, MIZU builds expansive soundscapes through her singular cello playing. Her signature stratiform style of composition, melding self-recorded layers of her instrument with electronic manipulation and experimental production, explores themes of transformation and the infinite possibilities within queerness.

Paige Emery is an ecological artist, herbalist, and plant dreamer exploring rituals of remembering the Earth. Her music practice seeded from her ritual of singing to her plants every morning after she meditated with them. The songs bloom through an inquiry of intercommunications through different stages of Earth's cycles of living, decomposing and rebirth. At the California Botanical Garden, Paige will open her music performance with a guided meditation to connect with the garden.

The work of Upstate NY-based Saapato is firmly rooted in the surrounding environment—be it natural habitats or human-made structures. We’re drawn to his ethos of ecology manifest as music, and know you will be too.

* Due to health & recuperation, Saapato will no longer be joining us
