Friends! For a little transparency, nearly all of the funds from our gatherings go right back into bringing them into being. The majority of donations or ticket sales go towards supporting the day’s musician(s) and/or workshop hosts, while remaining funds typically cover anything from photography, extra hands onsite, event insurance, site rental fees, and any number of immediate costs. Our monthly membership fund goes towards mundane administrative expenses like our website, email accounts, newsletter service, and also allows us to guarantee a minimum payment to artists even when we (somewhat regularly) don’t make enough in donations to cover such a promise. We also take a small monthly stipend from recurring membership dues to go towards the internal tasks that keep us running like making posters, organizing & curation, advancing & coordination, setup, and so forth.
We do our best to take care of everyone but tbh aren’t so great at taking care of ourselves.
If you’d like to see that change and allow us to flourish, to continue tending towards
our communities regardless of a budget, here are a few ways to help us help you:
• Become a member! This is hands down
the most helpful and supportive way to keep
Living Earth an active part of life in Los Angeles.
• Consider making a one time donation.
We do have non-profit fiscal sponsors & with
advance communication can speak towards
making your donation tax deductible.
• Hire us! We’ve helped to produce weddings,
stages for Bob Baker Day, Printed Matter’s LA
Art Book Fair, The Cortége, The Getty Museum,
Night at the Library, California Botanic Garden,
off grid performances for artists like Yo-Yo Ma
and Courtney Barnett, and naturalist hikes for
birthdays. We also love to speak on panels or
present at conferences and universities. These
jobs have not only been incredibly fun, but are
essential towards our income as organizers.
• Rent from us! We have lights, speakers,
electric solar batteries, and so much gear. If it’s
not a day where we’re hosting a gathering,
chances are that we can help you out whether
it’s for a performance or a party.
• We are looking for a grant writer! If you’re an
experienced grant writer for arts, ecology, or
performance based projects and would like
to be an active part of this project then please
reach out. We can offer hourly compensation
with a monthly cap.
we’re new to asking for help
& will update this as time flows on.
THANK YOU
