On the evening of October 18th we gather upon the lawn and land of Hollyhock House to sit within the music of local legend and one of our longtime heroes, Tara Jane O’Neil.
If a sunset concert of intimate story and open-hearted experimentation alongside a historic Frank Lloyd Wright house in an art park that overlooks the city sounds like something you might be interested in, then you’ve found your people.
Thank you to Porchfest for encouraging free, community-powered music throughout North America. Thank you to Hollyhock House for organizing such a potent gathering on your own iconic back porch & inviting us to be a part. Thank you to the Department of Cultural Affairs for helping to support and fund an unbelievable amount of art throughout Los Angeles so that we can gather easily and freely with one another to share in stories, exploration, and transcendent moments.
We love Tara Jane O’Neil so much, and whether you’ve lived a lifetime within her art or are just now finding your way into her world, we hope that you bring a blanket a join us for something special.

This gathering is free & all ages (always). Please plan to arrive early, bring water to stay hydrated, a blanket to sit on, and we ask that within the lawn of Hollyhock House there be no dogs or chairs / outdoor furniture. If those are essential needs (we understand), then you’re welcome to have both within the surrounding grass of Barnsdall Park where you’ll still be able to listen and watch!
Tara Jane O’Neil is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and visual artist. She composes and performs under her own name and in collaboration with other musicians, artists, dancers, and filmmakers. As a solo artist he has released ten full-length albums.
Tara was a founding member of Rodan, the Sonora Pine and several other bands. She has collaborated on recordings and stages with Papa M, Steve Gunn, Hand Habits, Lower Dens, Michael Hurley, Little Wings, Marisa Anderson, Catherine Irwin, Mirah, Mount Eerie, and many others.
Since 1992, Tara has performed at clubs, galleries, and DIY spaces around the world and venues such as the Centre de Pompdou, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Hammer and the Broad. She starred in the cult classic film Half-Cocked and scored feature films including His Lost Name, Great Speeches From a Dying World and others. Her visual art work has been shown in cities including London, Tokyo, LA, New York and Portland and has been published in three monographs.

Hollyhock House (1921) is Frank Lloyd Wright's first Los Angeles commission and the City's only UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed for Aline Barnsdall, the house was intended to be the centerpiece of a 36-acre arts complex, which was only partially realized. Gifted to the City in 1927, Barnsdall Art Park has grown to include the Municipal Art Gallery, a theater, and community art centers (all operated by the Department of Cultural Affairs), realizing Barnsdall's vision for a dynamic arts park in Los Angeles. Hollyhock House is open for tours, and new initiatives put contemporary practitioners in dialogue with the site, broadening perspectives on the house’s layered history.
Preserving LA’s one-and-only UNESCO World Heritage site is an ongoing effort. Now a century old, Hollyhock House has benefited from the generosity of so many who have shared Aline Barnsdall’s vision for this as a vibrant arts center in Los Angeles. Since 2020, they’ve restored art glass, refreshed finishes, dealt with leaks, and returned original furniture home. They’ve also been reinvigorating green spaces throughout the park with new native plantings. None of this would be possible without community support. Please consider making a donation for the ongoing preservation of Hollyhock House, an internationally celebrated site.
