Alright! We’re trying something very new!
On the eve of July 15th we invite you to sing your heart out at our neighborhood haunt, co-owned and operated by our dear friend and experimental bassoonist Archie Carey of Wild Up. We’ve long been looking for a way to collaborate (did you catch us doing sound for the Mary Lattimore & Jake Falby concert in the median?) and hope that working together in this way to raise funds for our immediate communities can be an ongoing effort together.
For two-ish hours we’ll be signing you up to sing 4 Non Blondes, Gil Scott-Heron, and anything you need to say on the mic to rage against the machine. This month, 100% of funds raised will go towards supporting our cherished local street vendors via vetted fundraising campaigns from our friends and neighbors of Pasadena For All, Aetna Street Solidarity, Community Power Collective, Ktown For All, and Chinatown Community for Equitable Development.
No donations or rsvp’ing in advance, we’ll just see you there if you’re able to make it. While Solarc is an experimental brewery, it’s more so a family friendly collaborative art project, with one of our favorite tea menus in town and snacks to warm the heart. Whether it’s ladle night, tape night, crafternoon, or a participatory all ages all experience levels ensemble, these foil lined walls are for everyone.
Solarc was born from two friends in the LA arts community who bonded over a batch of mead, which they brewed while listening to Gregorian chant in the companies current headquarters, a barn like garage in Highland Park.
After a few years of obsessively home brewing all sorts of magical potions, they decided to take it to the next level andbegan Solarc in early 2015 as nomadic brewers with a dream of growing to eventually open a community space that could house a number of fermented experiments and performance art events.
Every aspect of Solarc is art, from designing their labels, recipes and curating daily events to finding zen like fluxus meaning in the minimalist physical labor required to mass produce…things………
They are constantly aiming to expand their minds and palates and invite you to join ~
