Afternoon at the Audubon | Duffy x Uhlmann

  • Audubon Center at Debs Park 4700 Griffin Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90031 United States (map)

We’re not sure where July came from, but we’re here, and we’re going to embrace this heat with the coolest of tones. This afternoon at the Audubon Center we are blessed with two deep local sonic sculptors and community collaborators of the highest orders, Meg Duffy & Gregory Uhlmann, who’ll be plugging in underneath the peppercorn tree and finding dialogue in a performance for two guitars.

For extra credit, go listen to Meg and Gregory’s respective musics, and then dive into the many records that they’ve each helped to shape (like Perfume Genius, Weyes Blood, Anna Butterss, Hooray For The Riff Raff, Josh Johnson, William Tyler). With the openness and vulnerable nature of this collaboration, it’s just a gift to hold new appreciations for their own through lines and voices in our larger arts ecosystems. See you soon.

Donation-based. All Ages. Accessible. There are no pups allowed at the Audubon Center as to not disturb ongoing habitat restoration efforts.

Blurring the limits between speed and slowness, Meg Duffy (guitar) and Gregory Uhlmann (guitar) communicate in velocities, underwriting each other’s peaks and flurries as they ache toward a mutual horizon.

After playing in Perfume Genius and Hand Habits, Duffy and Uhlmann embarked on their first record together, Doubles. A testament to the wordlessness of their musical intimacy, Duffy and Uhlmann take up the guitar in order to make an imprint of the slowness and presence of their improvisational practice. They weave together a sonic meditation, embracing intuition and relying on trust.
