Pique your curiosities at this all day interactive family festival celebrating Getty’s PST: Art & Science Collide 🎨 🧬

See how light can dazzle and delight by making your very own suncatcher and creating images with the power of the those solar rays! Explore medieval notions of the cosmos by creating your own piece of wearable art based on your astrological sign! Imagine the view of Earth from outer space with a huge interactive globe where you can add elements to improve our world! Bring your friends, family, cruise through solo, or kick it wth a stranger that you met on the bus along the way - there is absolutely something for every curious mind in store (and some epic exhibitions).

As part of this beautiful family festival, CARS and dublab have invited us to set up our solar powered production equipment and curate two afternoons of environmental splendor with our friends. We’re joined this afternoon by the great field recording experimentalist Alexey Seliverstov with performances at 12:30p & 2:45p. Bring a blanket, a picnic, a book, and feel the earth breathe if you know what we mean. Before, between, and afterwards we’ll be playing some of our favorite selects from the canon of environmental music as well as casually and sporadically sharing flute sounds on the lawn.

Experimental composer Alexey Seliverstov specializes in creating generative soundscapes using

custom computer algorithms, an array of tape recorders, magnetic card readers, portable turntables, and

reel-to-reel machines.

Known for crafting artificial bird songs, Alexey blends these with field recordings from

spring forests, flowering meadows, California creeks, high mountain areas, and generative synth parts in his

sound collages.

A pioneer in his field, Alexey has introduced techniques such as Extended Soundscapes and Flying Mics,

which earned the admiration of Pete Townshend, co-founder and principal songwriter of The Who. This

recognition led to a unique collaboration, with Townshend commissioning Alexey to compose one of 14

soundscapes for the upcoming art installation The Age of Anxiety.

Alexey has also composed music for several films, most notably Inhale-Exhale, which won the Grand Jury

Prize at the 2019 Shanghai Film Festival. Recently, he collaborated with Glass Animals to create an official

performance remix of their song “Creatures in Heaven.”
