When was the last time you ventured into the wilderness at night for a stroll among the owls, coyotes, and crickets?
At the end of every month we gather with the heroic environmental stewards of TreePeople to love on live music and hot tea along a ridge trail of the Santa Monica Mountains. Following a performance, steeped herbs, a sunset, and some good conversation, TreePeople’s eco educators offer us three different hiking groups for peoples of all ages and abilities to learn more about the native ecology and history of these mountains.
This month we sit atop Mulholland Drive with our dear friend and local hero, Dream Crease. The solo project of Marina Aguerre, Dream Crease has become a deeply environmental realm of fantasy and collaboration among friends rooted in field recordings and electronic synthesis as an invocation for the worlds to come. For this evening’s Friday Night Moonlight Hike we celebrate the release of her 2nd record Blue Hour in the Living Room with a very special performance featuring many of the musicians who contributed to this otherworldly album.
Using vocals, synths, and samples from her own backyard, Blue Hour in the Living Room seeks to capture the fleeting stretch of time between day and night known as blue hour: The transient and ethereal hour between sunset and night that intrigues all living beings, the quiet and stillness after the commotion of daytime, before the world of darkness emerges, where two worlds exist in one plane, separate only in time. We see you just after the blue hour, during the first moments of nightfall, for an evening of music in the mountains.
Bring a blanket, pour some tea, and bliss in.
Check-in begins around 6:30pm, music shortly after 7pm, and we split into our hiking groups promptly at 8pm. Parking is limited so we ask that you please rsvp with us in advance.

Built from synthesizers, self-captured nature samples, and vocal layers used as an instrument, the music of Dream Crease is an ethereal soundscape that flickers like dust in the sunlight—fleeting yet luminous, and reaching toward the unseen. Drawing from otherworldly visions and recurring dream landscapes, synchronized to the natural world at her fingertips, she brings us a new realm of fantasy ambient on her second full length album, Blue Hour in the Living Room.

Dream Crease is the solo project of Marina Aguerre, a Los Angeles producer and multi-instrumentalist known for her work with Teal Pop, Spaceface, and Dumbo Gets Mad. Aguerre got her start in the Los Angeles DIY scene booking and DJing on radio under her catch-all moniker The Witching Hours, with over a decade of collaborative and community work before launching Dream Crease in 2019.
Since becoming more active in the project, she has toured the US and Japan and has made two appearances at Bonnaroo. In 2025 she scored the indie film “El Rebote” starring Jim O’Heir. She has also provided featured vocals for Spaceface , Marco Benevento , and Mating Ritual with future collaborations always on the horizon.
Born in 1973 from the hopes and dreams of a teenager, TreePeople is now one of the largest environmental organizations headquartered in Southern California.
They have inspired, engaged, and supported more than 3 million people to take action for our environment by planting and caring for more than 3 million trees in our local forests, mountains, parks, and our neighborhoods. Through on-the-ground research and educational programs, TreePeople shares knowledge with policymakers, students, educators, and communities around the world.
After fires burn, TreePeople reforests. When schools are covered in concrete, TreePeople creates green schoolyards. When communities experience food insecurity, TreePeople distributes fruit trees. When California is drought-stricken, TreePeople designs solutions to capture rainwater. As the world faces increasing threats from a more hostile climate, TreePeople helps create actionable solutions.
