Matthewdavid’s River Glitch: Sunset on the LA River

  • LA River - Glendale Narrows (rsvp for pin drop) (map)

Walt McClements on the LA River

LA River freaks unite!

On April 19th the dreamers and the schemers once again picnic side by side with a site-specific Matthewdavid River Glitch performance at sunset. Expect blissed out water songs, cathartic noise, Breath of the Wild coded urban-wildland whimsy, a spiritual revelation courtesy of a most wise Arroyo Willow that’s hard not to revere like an ancient deity, and genuinely a really beautiful evening in community. Pulling up to water worship alongside Matthew are M.A. Tiesenga and The Growth Eternal.

Pull up early to hang out, listen to music outside in the daylight alongside the LA River, watch the herons, read a book, ride a bike, practice your mime’ing, whatever calls you. Whether you’ve been to one of our concerts on the river or not, these aren’t to be missed. It’s deep strenuous to bring the quality of sound that we do down those riverbanks so start your Earth Week of right along the soft-bottomed Glendale Narrows with us.

RSVP for the pin drop (do not just google Glendale Narrows or LA River), or if you’ve joined us on the LA River for previous concerts then you already know where to look. This is a donation-based gathering, open to and for all, and please donate if you’re able.

Bring a blanket, snacks, an extra layer, a pup, a friend, and anything you’d like to feel cozy. Solar-powered music begins around 7p.

🌊

Having emerged as a luminary of the LA Beat Scene, Matthewdavid has been a longtime pillar of LA’s creative ecosystems through stewardship of Leaving Records, Listen To Music Outside In The Daylight Under A Tree, his long-running radio show with dublab, and through his own musical expressions which have led to collaborations with Carlos Niño, André 3000, and Flying Lotus.

Now having started a family, having lost biological and chosen parents, having struggled with aging and embodiment, having launched a record label and cultivated (against all the usual odds and incentives) an enriching and expanding community of musicians, artists, and enthusiasts, Matthewdavid’s fingernails are pretty damn caked with the soil of life and we love him very much.
