Herbal First Aid for Community Resilience: Working With Plants In Times Of Crisis

  • JPL Riparian Zone (pin drop with rsvp) (map)

Paige Emery at the Center For Medicinal Plant Conservation

Our dear friend, musician, and herbalist Paige Emery will guide us in relationship among working with the plants growing around us to support situations that call for first aid. Herbal first aid is always essential, but is especially potent in the time of great injustice as we collectively navigate I.C.E. raids, escalating police violence, and growing health risks from January’s wildfires.

Together, we’ll explore working with the plants that strengthen our ability to take care of each other & the resilience of our communities, especially in times of crisis.

We’ll be meeting along the arroyo seco, in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. A pin drop will be given with rsvp & we ask that you arrive early as we’ll be hiking out to our gathering point promptly at 11a. Please remember to pack:

• a sketchbook or journal and pencil or pen
• sun protection
• water
• comfortable hiking shoes

& we’ll see you soon!!

Paige Emery is an artist, herbalist and plant dreamer exploring ways of remembering the Earth. Paige has a background in fine arts, herbalism, and ecology, and has been teaching art for over 10 years.
