Has your garden soil been needing a boost? Or could your houseplants use a little soil superfood? Join LA Compost & Friends (like us!) for a new quarterly series: Community Compost Day LA!
Hosted across various Compost Hubs in the LA network, this all-ages gathering connects us with valuable resources, including compost, trees, native plants, seeds, and mulch, while amplifying environmental education, soil stewardship, and deeper community connection.
You know we love a meaningful soundtrack, so each Community Compost Day we’re calling in a friend to set the sonic palette along with us. So far we’ve been blessed with musical selections from Nina Raj of Altadena Seed Library, Evelyn Hernández of Earthen Project, and a live performance & karaoke with Badlands (Adrian Tenney of Terremoto & Test Plot) and this morning we’ll be enjoying a selection of music from Kathleen Blackistone of Moonwater Farm.
What to expect:
Free Resources: Attendees will receive tools to support sustainable and regenerative gardening practices, including one bag of compost, one bag of mulch, and additional giveaways.
Educational Workshops: Learn about composting, plant and tree care, and environmental stewardship. Enjoy ongoing hands-on activities designed for all ages—especially young soil stewards!

As a community based non-profit, LA Compost supports a healthy transition where food is never wasted, but returned to the soil for the next cycle of life.
Cooperatively with a diverse network of partners within LA County, they co-create spaces for local compost access and engagement, restorative practices, and community empowerment. Community composting takes a collective effort.
