Welcome to the eighth edition of Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair!
This year’s production is entirely new as we move from our familiar setup at the Geffen Contemporary to embracing intuition with the ArtCenter’s south campus. While publishers, projects, classrooms, and a radio pop-up will fill the interior of ArtCenter’s campus buildings, you’ll find Living Earth & friends on the rooftop with our solar powered PA ready to amplify four days of music and community resilience.
All stage programming has been co-produced in caring conversation with local organizations dedicated to trans liberation and ecological justice: TRANSA and Red Hot, No Canyon Hills, Altadena Seed Library, and Zorthian Ranch. In light of environmental devastation from the January fires, our Stage is a dedication to platforming calls to action and fundraising initiatives led by community members and local activists.
Over a third of this fair’s 324 exhibitors are based in California while the rest will travel in from 26 countries outside of the United States. The international context of this Fair is no small feat in the face of a rapidly changing American political climate structured by xenophobia, ecological uncertainty, and economic crisis. We hope you can carve an afternoon or two to gather with us and take in the meaningful work being shared from so many distinct voices.
For this first day of the fair we’re working with our earth angels of NO CANYON HILLS to show love for our Verdugo Mountains, to defend our endangered native habitats, and to fundraise for NCH’s urgent legal defense fees in response to their ongoing lawsuit. Music all day from 1p - 5p, pull up and support!
