An Afternoon at the Audubon Center with Kiernan & William Alexander

  • Audubon Center at Debs Park 4700 Griffin Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90031 United States (map)

Kiernan’s songwriting is both ruinous and hopeful. William Alexander’s is deep in abstraction, free expression of the moment, and those resonant heart tones. Together, they’re the sweetest of partners and it’s our honor to present their music in dialogue with one another underneath The Audubon Center’s iconic Peruvian Peppercorn Tree.

Kiernan is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kiernan is a classically-trained cellist, and has spent much of the last decade working and writing for other musicians. Her own work mixes the intimacy of folk music with the warmth of ambient music, and is both personal and melancholic.

Black-Okinawan music artist William Alexander is a Brooklyn based singer-

songwriter.  While William’s unique music sensibility has made him a first call

collaborator and instrumentalist among his peers, it’s his distinctive voice which directs attention

to the full spectrum of his musicality - finding itself in full bloom in his solo

endeavors. In 2018 Will stepped into his own as a composer, producer, multi-

instrumentalist, and bandleader, with his debut album ‘Love is Abound’ followed up by

‘The Uncut Tree’ in 2021 — both rooted in a deep affinity for rhythm & soul.  Having laid the foundation for possibilities, Will’s storied career as a collaborator make way for a new era, centering his voice in all of its fullness, in every capacity.

William strips down his songs to their essence — guitar & voice, and joins Living Earth for an afternoon of acoustic soul.
